Search Engine Optimization
Website Search Engine Optimization is a way to increase volume to your website by using keyword rich content to bring natural or organic search traffic to your website via the search engines. By researching the most popular keywords that are targeted for the specific site traffic you need, it is possible to see an increase in targeted volume to your site once your site is indexed by the search engine robots. Many affiliate marketers are using this method to improve search engine rankings, increase website traffic and as a means for additional online advertising for their websites.
There are many variables that come into play with Search Engine Optimization. It is important to take the time to evaluate your site traffic and generate a game-plan that will incorporate many of the factors that will make your site best optimized for the search engines.
Some factors you should consider when setting up your site for SEO purposes:
- Start by brainstorming with your family, friends and/or business partners to figure-out what targeted keywords and phrases your customers will use when searching for you.
- Consider words in every combination that you think someone may search: i.e. credit, credit cards, secured credit cards, bad credit credit cards, prepaid debit cards.
- Keywords can be a single word, but a keyword phrase is most favorable. Select 2-3 word phrases and try to be specific.
- Optimize each page for one or two keyword phrases only. This will not only increase your chances of obtaining top rankings, but it may also increase your customer sales conversions by bringing the visitor to the most relevant page.
- Utilize Keyword popularity tools like Google AdWords. Keyword Tools provide the quantitative feedback you need so you know how often your candidate keyword is used in a search query.
- Consider your competition. What makes you different? What makes you better? Get specific about what you are offering, and if possible choose words that are not highly popular.
- Avoid common words like and, the, or at when used in combination with others.
- Use your keywords to name the sub-directories and web pages as you build them.
- Keep in mind that keyword density is not necessarily the key to high rankings. Keywords are determined by the search engine spiders through repetition.
- Keyword prominence or placement may hold some importance, and it is usually thought best to start out the first paragraph with your primary keywords. Also, bold text and italicized text carry more weight than regular text in some instances.
- Finally, remember your customers! Make sure the text on your page sounds natural, not artificially stuffed with keywords.
